Quebec Experience Class Entry for Foreign Students!

Quebec Experience Class As a foreign student under the Quebec Experience Class, Québec graduate or temporary worker in Québec, you can apply for a CSQ in the skilled worker class. However, you must be age 18 or older and, if you are presently studying, you must intend to enter the Québec labour market in the short term. 

If you are applying for a CSQ as a skilled worker, you must choose between the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ – Québec experience program) and the regular selection program for skilled workers.

FOREIGN STUDENT CONDITIONS TO SATISFY AS A GRADUATE OR FUTURE GRADUATE

To satisfy the selection criteria under the Quebec Experience Class 

Here are the conditions that you must satisfy as a Québec graduate or future graduate to obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec selection certificate) under the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ – Québec experience program).

At the time of submitting your application, you must:

be at least 18 years old and intend to settle in Québec to hold a job;
have conformed to the conditions on your stay as a foreign student;
hold a Québec diploma eligible for the PEQ or expect to complete your study program within six months of the date on which you submit your application (a program of study must be at least 1800 hours);
have an intermediate level knowledge of oral French;
undertake to provide for your needs and, where applicable, those of your spouse or de facto spouse and dependent children included in your application, for a minimum period of three months from the date you obtain your permanent resident status.

You are not eligible for the PEQ:

if you hold a bursary with a clause stipulating a return to your country, unless you have already fulfilled this condition; or
if you have started a new study program in Québec.

Temporary Worker

Conditions to satisfy as a temporary worker
Here are the conditions that you must satisfy as a temporary worker to obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec selections certificate) under the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ – Québec experience program).

At the time of submitting your application, you must:

be at least 18 years old;
be present in Québec as a temporary worker or in the framework of a youth exchange program and hold legal status as a temporary resident;
hold a job eligible under the PEQ and have held one or more jobs of the same nature for at least 12 of the past 24 months;
have conformed to the conditions of applicable stays as a temporary worker;
have an intermediate level knowledge of oral French;
undertake to provide for your needs and, where applicable, those of your spouse or de facto spouse and dependent children included in your application, for a minimum period of three months from the date you obtain your permanent resident status.

TYPES OF JOBS ELIGIBLE UNDER THE PROGRAMME DE L’EXPÉRIENCE QUÉBÉCOISE (PEQ)

Only paid full-time skilled jobs practised legally are eligible under the PEQ. A skilled job is a job at the managerial, professional or technical level.

A full-time job implies a minimum of 30 hours of paid work per week.
Full-time work experience gained in the framework of the post-graduation work permit program, a youth exchange program, or an employment internship that is not connected to a study program in Québec may be taken into account if they meet all the requirements of the PEQ.
A period of self-employment may also be taken into account if this job is at a skill level and the resulting income is equivalent to a full-time salary.
Note that no part-time work period can be taken into account for eligibility under the PEQ.
