Commodity Tax Manager

Position Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Commodity Tax Manager for our Burlington office. The successful candidate will work with the Commodity Tax Partner, tax managers and other team members on tax consulting and compliance engagements for a broad client base while working closely with the assurance and audit services team.

Our ideal candidate will be a first year Tax Manager, or possibly 3rd year Senior Tax Accountant, ready to make the move into a Manager role. We seek qualified candidates who have demonstrated abilities to deal with sensitive issues in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are critical. Previous Commodity Tax experience is an absolute must. This is a permanent full time opportunity.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Assistance in voluntary disclosures
Deals with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues
Offers commodity tax planning services to clients
Provide support for commodity tax issues within the region
Remain up to date with all legislation pertaining to commodity tax
Research commodity tax issues and prepare memorandum
Review clients HST/GST compliance and HST/GST returns
Review client’s HST/GST procedures for Audit purposes
Supervise commodity tax staff including performance management and development

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge
Qualified Canadian CA (Candidates with Accounting Designations including CMA, CGA & International CA’s will also be considered)
Successful completion of CICA In-Depth courses in GST and PST
Minimum of 3-5 years of Commodity Tax experience
Ability to manage client relationships with professionalism
Motivated and diligent in maintaining current technical knowledge in the area of Tax
Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
Previous managerial and/or supervisory experience is highly desirable
Ability to work as part of a team
