Job Description:

Title: Electrician
Reports to: Foreperson, Fabrication Shop Manager
Location: The job is based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, however, travel to other project sites in Saskatchewan is required
Duration: One to two years, depending on project progress
Compensation: $34.50/h, pension and health benefits
Work Hours: Full time, 40hours/week, overtime at 1.5 times regular wages

Responsibilities and Tasks:
– Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
– Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
– Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
– Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors
– Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
– Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
– Install, replace and repair fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels
– Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
– Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
– Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
– Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
– Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
– Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
– Other tasks as related to electrical work as assigned during the course of business

Required Qualifications:
– A journey person certificate and 5 years work experience in the trade is required.
– Completion of secondary school or vocational school or a high school degree with a minimum of 10 years work experience in the trade will also be considered.
– Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
– Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
– Electrician trade certification is considered an asset
– Safety tickets are considered an asset
– Inter provincial Red Seal is an asset
– Valid driver’s license is an asset
