The Opportunity
Director, Guaranteed Wealth Product Management – PRO00926

Role Summary:
The Director, Guaranteed Wealth Products will provide SME support to the major product development initiatives related to the product portfolio; manage the Guaranteed Wealth product shelf (excluding pricing); manage key third party relationships at the operational/governance level, and support Distribution with compelling content for product training; creating high impact short-term sales promotions (e.g. guaranteed rates) and sales concept material for advisors.

Develop and lead a high performance team of deep experts that are recognized as the experts for Guaranteed Wealth products in the Canadian market
Manage the Guaranteed Wealth product shelf (excluding pricing), ranging from a thorough understanding of the Canadian market, understanding the global trends in this product space, SLF’s competitive position in Canada, to facilitating ease of doing business for advisors by driving improvements to the sales fulfillment process. This includes ownership of the application forms and contract wording. Participation in industry forums such as LIMRA represent excellent forums to raise SLF’s profile while gathering intelligence and expanding our network
Support the major product development initiatives related to the Guaranteed Wealth product portfolio as subject matter experts and as the ultimate owner of the product once launched. Products of this magnitude generally have expectations of annual sales in the millions of dollars. This role needs to influence the key decisions in product design, product positioning and administration approach to ensure the product is viable long term
Support Distribution with high impact content for product training; creating compelling, short-term sales promotions ( guaranteed rates) and sales concept material for advisors; enhancing the credibility of our wholesaling team with their advisor clients
Manage key 3rd party relationships at the operational/governance level. Currently there are key relationships with Bank of Montreal related to their administration and underwriting of the Equity Linked GICs offered through SLF Trust; the 3 national brokers who deal in the highly specialized structured settlement market that require close contact on an ongoing basis; and IFDS who administered our GIC offering in the Cannex channel
Regularly interacting with product management counterparts across SLF Canada to explore synergies, share ideas and contribute to the collective intellectual capital in SLF. Participation on Canada Product Council is an example of a key forum for this type of activity

5 years minimum experience in product management, preferably in financial services
College or university degree highly valued
Experience with creative processes such as marketing, art etc.
