Saskatchewan Launches a New Tech Immigration Program – Here’s What You Need to Know!

This Tech Talent Pathway Program, Saskatchewan, news has come as a shy of relief for the IT employees who are at present working in Saskatchewan and foreign immigrants who wish to relocate, as the immigration process has now become more accessible and faster.
Recently, in a media release, SaskTech President Dr. Aaron Genest stated,
“The Saskatchewan economy relies on our ability to recruit and retain highly skilled immigrants who obtain critical anchors of specialized skills in our communities and workforce.” “The Saskatchewan Tech Talent Pathway program offers a competitive advantage to the existing industries and technology sectors. It simplifies the immigration process and sends a clear message that we want our immigrants to stay right here in our province and help us grow exponentially well worldwide.”

The eligibility criteria of the Tech Talent Pathway applicants are as follows:

An employer-specific SINP Job Approval Letter for an entitled technology sector occupation.
Must have an official language level of (CLB) Canadian Language Benchmark level 5 if not attached to any work in Saskatchewan at the time of application, or a CLB level 7 if applying through the Express Entry immigration program;
At least one year of work experience in the same occupation in the past five years; or six months working in Saskatchewan;
Post-secondary education; and
Be eligible for Saskatchewan professional licensing (suitable computer, software, electrical, and electronics engineers).
As per the SINP, the program requirements are subject to change. However, decision-makers will prioritize the information available on the government website upon receiving the applications.
Every year, the federal government, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), sets the number of nominations the SINP can make.

TECH TALENT PATHWAY PROGRAM SASKATCHEWAN ELIGIBLE OCCUPATION

Applicants carrying a valid job offer in one of the following occupations, listed below by their National Occupation Classification (NOC) code, may be eligible to apply to the Saskatchewan Tech Talent Pathway program.

NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
NOC 2133 Electrical and electronics engineers
NOC 2147 Computer engineers (except software engineers and designers)
NOC 2171 Information System analysts and consultants
NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
NOC 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers
NOC 2175 Web designers and developers
NOC 2281 Computer network technicians
NOC 2282 User support technicians
NOC 2283 Information system testing technicians

MORE EXTENDED ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify for the Tech Talent Pathway Program in Saskatchewan, you need to possess legal permanent residency status in Canada or refer as foreign immigrants (live outside Canada) and are not refugee claimant.

Regardless of your Express Entry candidature status, you need to have an offer for an eligible permanent, full-time technology or innovation sector job in Saskatchewan.
Moreover, you also need to have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter that will show your intent and determination towards Saskatchewan.
The job duration for Saskatchewan employees lies for six months by the employer offering the eligible job and currently residing in the province. The federal government should have a full-time job at least 30 hours per week.
Regarding language requirements, you must possess a CLB level 5 or higher proficiency in English or French if you are still waiting for your job offer letter from the employer.
If your occupation demands Saskatchewan licensing, you must stand by the demand. A computer engineer, a software engineer (but not a designer), and an electrical and electronics engineer are required to perform the following:
You must submit confirmation that the Association has approved an application for registration as an Engineer-in-Training of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
You need to submit a letter from the APEGS indicating that they have been assigned Confirmatory Exams.
Additionally, you will need an education related to the job you have been offered, a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree will become vital here. A three-year degree program at a university or college; or a two-year diploma from a university, college, trade, technical school, or other post-secondary institution.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR EXPRESS ENTRY CANDIDATES

Candidates in IRCC’s Express Entry pool might get a chance to qualify for this sub-category only if they belong to the foreign immigrants’ category or have legal status in Canada, are not belonging to the refugees’ category. Also, they need to: 

Carry a valid Express Entry Profile Number and Job Seeker Code.
Must have passed the federal Express Entry language proficiency test.
To create a solid profile, you need to qualify for one of the Express Entry-managed programs. In most cases, tech workers will be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSWP) Program or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
There’s a third Express Entry program known as Federal Skilled Trades (FST) primarily designed for tech workers that are not eligible for the above two.
