The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) accelerates the Permanent Resident application process for skilled and/or experienced workers, experienced business persons and their family members who wish to settle in BC permanently. It gives to nominees an opportunity to apply for Permanent Resident status through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) under the fast-tracked Provincial Nominee stream – which can be faster than applying through many federal immigration streams.This program is designed of two components: Strategic Occupations and Business Immigrants.Strategic Occupations include the following categories:
Skilled Workers
Skilled workers must have post-secondary education or training with several years of employment experience in a professional, management, technical, trades or other skilled occupations. The BC PNP will only consider applications for positions under Skill Levels O, A and B of the National Occupational Classification Matrix National Occupational Classification (NOC).
International Graduates
Are you an international student completing your last semester, or have you graduated within the past two years? If so, you may qualify for BC PNP. Here’s what you should know:
at least half of your studies must have been completed at a publicly funded Canadian college or university
you must have completed at least a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying full-time; andone year post-graduate degree and certificate programs that require a previous degree are also eligible
An International Graduate must have accepted a permanent, full time job offer from a BC employer. The PNP program does not require that International Graduates have previous work experience. The BC PNP will consider applications for positions under Skill Levels 0, A and B.
International Post-Graduates Pilot Project
This pilot project is designed to support BC’s universities in attracting top students from around the world and to help retain these highly qualified workers in the provincial workforce to facilitate innovation and economic development.
The applicants under this category must meet the requirement for an eligible Masters or Doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in British Columbia within the last two years. A graduate degree must be awarded in the natural, applied or health sciences This includes programs in the following fields of study:
Agriculture
Biological and Biomedical Sciences
Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services
Engineering
Engineering Technology
Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences
Mathematics and Statistics
Natural Resources Conservation and Research
Physical Sciences
Designated Health Professionals
British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program allows BC employers to hire certain health care professionals under the Designated Health Professionals category, which fall under the strategic Occupations. Some of those professionals include:
Registered/psychiatric nurses and physicians hired by British Columbia’s provincial/regional health agencies executed by the government-funded health care recruitment provider, Health Match BC.
Midwives
All the prospective nominees are required to meet other basic requirements set by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program in order to able to apply for this sub-category of the Strategic Occupations.
Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses
Nominee candidates must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the College of Registered Nurses of BC or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of BC.
Physicians
Nominee candidates must have practiced in BC on a work permit for at least nine months, and have a letter from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC showing that a supervising physician has given them a positive assessment
Midwives
Nominee candidates must provide proof of eligibility for registration with the College of Midwives of British Columbia. Applications for midwives must also enclose a confirmation letter from established British Columbia practice group, which says that the group acknowledges the nominee applicant as an affiliated midwife for a time period of 6 months (minimum).
Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Pilot Project
This project applies to designated semi-skilled occupations in the tourism/hospitality, food processing and long-haul trucking sectors(NOC skill level C or D)
Applicants must have been employed full-time in an eligible occupation by the sponsoring company, on a temporary work permit for at least nine consecutive months prior to the date of application to the PNP and must be legally employed by the employer at the time of application. Business Immigrant
BC PNP offers accelerated immigration for investment-ready and qualified entrepreneurs ready to invest and settle in BC, and become permanent residents of Canada.
