The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) provides access to the Canadian employer to hire temporary foreign nationals to fill vacant job profiles in the labour force. To make the job force more reachable and reliable to those immigrants, TFWP has joined hands with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), respectively.
On April 4, the Canadian government recently instigated new measures, referencing the nationwide labour shortage in different working fields. The provision has come after experiencing a high number of job vacancies and a lower unemployment rate in the country.
As per the Canadian government, this new addition of rules in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program will help those Canadian employers bring skilful and experienced candidates relevant to their expertise from different parts of the world without any hassle.
SOME NOTABLE CHANGES MADE IN THE TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM (TFWP)
Likewise, the maximum duration of employment for High-Wage and Global Talent Stream for workers also got an extension period from two years to three years. The government stated that such an extension would give immigrants confidence to immigrants to spend longer time on the Canadian soil, making a solid case to boost the Canadian workforce.
The most significant changes in the Seasonal Camp Exemption, which has been active since 2015, will now get the permanent tag under the new TFWP relaxation measures. The maximum duration of this program now increased from 6 months (180 days) to 9 months (270 days).
In addition, starting from April 30;
Candian employers of the seven sectors, including food manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, accommodation, wood product manufacturing, construction, hospital and healthcare, and residential care, are allowed to hire 30% of their workforce through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) for the low-wage position for one year.
All other sector employers can hire up to 20% of their workforce through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). A 10% increase directly from the previous years’ provisions.

The Changes in TFWP Measure Got A Mixed Reactions
When the changes are made in any subject or field, it is evident that many will stand by it, and few will start questioning. The same happened with the TFWP measure as well.
FINAL WORDS
The Canadian government is considering every step to improve its workforce regarding post-pandemic recoveries of labour shortages in different sectors. However, the pathway is not easy, and it will take some time despite such a commendable move.
In another way, the Immigration Canada Service has come forward to support this decision. It is determined to help those immigrants who want to immigrate under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
